Information for 2011-12 LIVE! Partners Program
Many students involved with programs and events sponsored by the Center for Vocational Reflection have said that one of the most important things we can do is create opportunities for students to spend time with faculty who are willing to share their stories and to listen to students share their own. The LIVE! Partners program—for several years now—has been a response to that request.
Students are invited to apply for a small grant (up to $100) to be used in partnership with a faculty member for the purpose of facilitating intentional conversation about life directions, meanings, and choices. The money can be used for meals, books, and other resources or activities (movies, plays, etc.) that can enhance both the pleasure and the productivity of these conversations. The partnership commitment is for four conversational meetings (two during the fall term and two during the spring term).
We have a list of faculty who have been or are currently involved with our Faculty Seminar, and others, who have expressed a willingness to partner with a student for these conversations. If you are awarded a LIVE! Partners grant, we will guide you toward one of these people who you will invite to be your conversation partner. You and you partner will then join with other partnerships for an introductory meeting on Monday, October 10, 2011, from 5:00-6:00 p.m. in the Garden Room of the Chapel. During this time, we will help guide you in planning future activities.
We award up to twelve (12) LIVE! Partners grants each year. All students are encouraged to participate in this unique opportunity that offers friendship and self-discovery. It is usually both a fun and enriching experience!
Note: The 2011-12 LIVE! Partners program has already started. Check back next August for application information and more details for the 2012-13 program. In August 2012, an online application will be posted below.
