The Center facilitates opportunities for the Furman alumni community to engage in vocational reflection through the Tom & Becky Becherer “What’s Calling You Now?” Alumni Programs.  Our two major opportunities, an on-campus alumni retreat and summer pilgrimages, are offered to alumni to provide space for discernment and reflection and connection with other Furman alumni, faculty, staff, and the community.  You can read more about these two components of the alumni programs in the Center, as well as stay updated on occasional Center alumni workshops and/or gatherings in your own community.

The journey of recreating and renewing a sense of life’s purpose never ends.  The alumni retreats offer the opportunity for Furman alumni to gather with other alumni who enjoy sharing their stories–what life has taught them–and hearing what others have found inspiring and encouraging along the way.  This retreat is a great opportunity to reconnect with Furman and Greenville, enjoy the beautiful campus, and join in the company of old and new friends, learning and exploring along the way.  Click here to learn more about the Center’s Alumni Retreats.

Every other year (odd-numbered years), we invite alumni to join in deeply enriching pilgrimage experiences to sacred places around the world.  In years past, we have gone on pilgrimage to Ireland (2011) and Spain (2009), with upcoming pilgrimages planned to Chimayo, New Mexico (2013) and the Iona community in Scotland (2013).  Pilgrimage is an invaluable part of diverse faith development and spiritual traditions across the world.  Pilgrims walk sacred paths where other pilgrims have traveled for generations, experience authentic hospitality in communities near and far, encounter rich spiritual connectedness, and have amazing space–and beautiful views–to reflect on their own life’s purpose, direction, and calling.  Pilgrims are invited to bring and share their own stories and traditions during conversations.  As with all of our programs and services, these pilgrimages are offered to all alumni, regardless of faith tradition or perspective.  We provide an open, welcoming space and encourage alumni to use their own beliefs in discovery and analysis of their individual life’s goals and meanings.  Click here to learn more about upcoming Alumni Pilgrimages.
