David Bost

Professor of Modern Languages & Literatures
David was born and raised in North Carolina. He went to college at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and attended graduate school at Vanderbilt University, where he received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. He joined the faculty at Furman in 1981. In addition to teaching Spanish language classes, he has taught various courses on Spanish American literature, primarily focusing on narrative. His current research interests include non-fiction narrative and cultural expressions of social justice and memory, such as memorials and museums.
David has three grown children: a daughter and son who live in Durham, NC, and a son living in Greenville.
David has been involved in leadership of the Center since the early days of initial grant funding in 2001.
